Phillip Connors was once a Wall Street Journal copy editor in a previous life, but now he has embraced his new profession as a fire lookout in the Gila Wilderness and as a writer and essayist dealing with environmental and wilderness issues. This is his third book, after Fire Season and All the Wrong Places, a memoir of his brother’s life and death. When not atop a mountain, he lives in El Paso, Texas.
